Dr. Matthew Weinger is a distinguished physician-scientist who currently serves as Director for Vanderbilt University School of Medicine's Center for Perioperative Research in Quality. He holds the Norman Ty Smith Chair in Patient Safety and Medical Simulation and is a tenured Professor of Anesthesiology, Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education. Dr. Weinger also holds several notable positions at Vanderbilt involving experiential learning, safety, and geriatric research. Dr. Weinger brings to Fluidnet valuable expertise as an anesthesiologist, engineer, and health services researcher.
Dr. Weinger was educated at Stanford University and the University of California. Numerous honors and achievements include credit as one of the 100 Notable People in the Medical Device Industry by the Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry in 2004 and the James S. Todd Memorial Award for Patient Safety Research in 1998. Dr. Weinger also serves as Co-Chairman of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Human Factors Committee, which develops national standards for medical device user interfaces. He has been awarded more than $5.5 million dollars in federal, foundation, and corporate research support funds, and he has been an honored speaker at more than 130 national and international medical venues.
